How I TAC
I just got my subscription today, so figured I might as well introduce myself and kick things off on a high note!
1.) How many days per week do you play?
So as not to overpromise and underdeliver (Lord knows I’ve done that a time or to before!), I’ve committed to playing 10-15 minutes minimum at least 5 times a week. Been playing for over an hour already today, so dare I say, “so far so good?”
2.) What time of day do you play?
Mornings are great for me. I’m an early riser, so I’m usually firing on “all” pistons, and there’s plenty of time for me to get to any other pressing matters, either before or after my playing.
3.) Where do you play?
I live in a small space, so not a lot of options besides the couch, which I shore-up with some pillows behind me to add a little additional back support.
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
I’ve been fighting my way back from a traumatic brain (and other bodily) injuries for almost three years, so having consistency in whatever I do is essential. I’d just started playing guitar before I was injured, and never really have any formal strategy or structure (and struggled after for that very reason), so needless to say, my six-string has spent a lot of time staring-up at me from its stand.
5.) What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
It’s tea for me. English breakfast with milk. By the bucket.
On a personal note …
I may be just getting started with TAC, but I’ve seen miracles firsthand (in my physical/mental rehab), so I’m excited about fearlessly applying the same commitment and consistency to my musical journey — and looking forward to those joyful little daily rewards that will surely come along the way.
