  • How often are new songs added?

Posted by PickinmyPocket on March 28, 2025 at 6:06 am

Does Tony add any new songs throughout the course of the year? Maybe a new song has been added this year as I have been dealing with some health issues but it seems to me that the same songs just get recycled, and I am not speaking of the benchmark songs.

    Thoughts please and thank you!

I’ve been wondering the same thing. It seems like we haven’t had any new content for a while. To be honest, I would like some new content, as I’m getting a bit bored doing the same challenges over and over. I do understand the purpose of the benchmark songs so you can track you progress, but a couple of years doing all the same songs is getting a bit old for me.

I agree. How many times do I need to hear WagonWheel or Hotel California?

I don’t think that the Community is going to be able to help you here. We don’t make content or have any influence on what it should be.

I did get a reply from an individual within TAC so it appears that posting it here was helpful….

I saw other people saying that Tony has had some family issues to deal with and that is why he stopped creating all new content. I think everything stopped when he announced that there would be no more weekly guitar love videos and we would just get a Monday morning email about the coming week.

I have been a member over two years. I think my membership will renew around June maybe. I download all exercises, print off TABS and put them in a file. Every week now I know I am going to have the TAB sheets in my file and there is not going to be anything new. It has been so for a looong time.

I am not someone who spends huge amounts of time practicising. I just fit a short session in every day. Regardless, I am definitely at the point that I am thinking carefully about whether or not to renew just to retain access to all the exercises and Fretboard Wizard whilst searching further afield for fresh songs and licks. I am a ‘bored easily’ type person. I really don’t even want to sit down and practice any of the benchmark songs again now. It is not that I play anything well. I am just one of those people that needs things to be fresh to stay interested.

I am guessing that Tony has maybe calculated what is going to work for him in terms of time and memberships. There is probably a fairly constant influx of new members (I came from seeing a YouTube ad). It might work out okay if some older members drop off. I am not critical of that. You gotta do what you gotta do. It would be useful to know if he has any intention of adding any new content or not but, I don’t know what he has going on.

If the site had a feedback section I would leave him a suggestion. Something that would probably keep me here would be section with single exercises being added say once a month at least. No need for Tony to spend all the time it takes to construct and film a whole week of exercises. Just pay friends/associates a small fee (or do it himself) to do the videos and TAB for a Lick, Riff, Chord Progression for songs that have never been covered. Personally, I don’t even need a Learn video. Just a Play video and TAB would be enough. Then when everyone else is playing Old Man or Wagon Wheel again, I would just do one of those.

@sumyra are you aware that you can purchase a liftetime subscription ($597), and the office will immediately refund your last annual subscription fee ($199). I just did this last week, and was refunded immediately. It kind of makes the decision very easy! Effectively you upgrade to Life at the cost of 2 years.

Even without new content, what is on here is worth it! I still am learning tons each time through the benchmark weeks as well as all the other weeks. Would I like new stuff? Sure I would, but it doesn’t matter that much. The substance is such that I can learn any song once my skills are up to snuff! Tony isn’t really teaching you how to play a song each week. He is really teaching you how to play dozens (even hundreds) of songs!

There is no Lifetime upgrade option showing anywhere on my interface. I have paid three x $197 and the cost of Fretboard Wizard already so it would have been nice if I had been emailed and recommended upgrade to Lifetime in the first year. Finding another $400 now for a resource that seems to be getting pared down instead of lifted up is not ideal. Cash is very tight for me. I feel like it would be more affordable to cancel but keep log in details. Then if I feel like I need it again in a year or two I could come back. I can see from all the recent reviews that people are joining all the time. I think that is probably the business model now. Allow a bit of drop off because new influx comes in and let the whole things run itself.

I am saying this here to you @sumyra but for the benefit of others who have been here for less than a year and are perhaps on the fence about renewing would also be able to consider Life Time.

The upgrade is not offered on the site, but if you contact support they will refund you the previous year’s fees after you purchase lifetime. I fully understand that it is less interesting to you now that you have in fact already paid $600.

With the Life Time subscription I can be patient to wait for some new content to eventually be made available, as it is I get a lot out of the program, but I’m only 9 months in and not 3 plus years like you.

I am enjoying going through the material for the second time. But I think eventually I will move past Tony’s courses even though they are good. Going to an in person teacher once a week this year has been a huge help so far.

Thank you John for your thoughts. I am experiencing some difficulty with my hands and haven’t played in several months. I think that when I am able, i will seek an instructor. All the best!
