  • Ibanez model #308 for a rank beginner

Posted by kschmiedeskampymail-com on December 11, 2022 at 9:24 am

I was inspired to learn guitar (for real this time) when I bought a Model # 308 Ibanez acoustic guitar for$5.00 at a flea market. The people at Guitar Show Case set it up for me and said I’d gotten a good deal on a good guitar.

I have no problems with the guitar It worst it is the best guitar I’ve ever owned. At best it is better than the guitar I got with green stamps in 1960 something.

I like the Ibanez but I wonder if there is anything else I should know about this make and model – good or bad.

$5!!! It’s a great buy. It’s got 6 strings to it so it will be a great guitar to learn on. Since it was at a flea market it could probably just needs a little cleaning. Good Luck with your guitar and happy playing

Hard to beat that deal! I tried to look up that model online, but didn’t find much info. Is it a classical (nylon string) guitar? I don’t have one of those, but have heard it suggested they can be easier to learn on as the strings are softer on the fingers than steel strings. Anyway, your guitar store folks set it up and approved your choice, and you made a good decision joining TAC! Don’t hesitate to make regular use of these forums – lots of helpful, wise members here to offer advice and encouragement😃

Thanks to both of you for your responses.

I’m still wondering what my goal should be for the training. Somewhere I wrote that I wanted to learn some Cisco Houston or Woody Guthrie tunes.

A couple of weeks ago I heard Burl Ives doing “Bigrock Candy Mountain”. ” Hallelujah I’m a Bum” is a perfect lullaby for all concerned.

How do I escape the complexity of finger-picking for the simplicity 0f old fashioned strumming?

For starters you can go to Tony’s skill courses and do the Strumming Jumpstart one. There are also tons of YouTube videos on learning strumming patterns.
