I am just starting my journey (30 day) and coming here for inspiration. Which you gave me – so thank you! May I ask how long you have been playing?

Now that is a story in itself @bronhookyahoo-ca truth is I started young but work got in the way so I barely had time to practice. Then illness in my joints took over and I couldnt practice or play. Guess you could say the music was in me because my guitars collected dust but I wanted to sing and play. So I bought a 25 buck piano on clearance and played that until I could figure out a way to heal my hands. Medical system couldnt figure out my issue so I did tried an out the box fix did research applied natural repair used open C chord on guitar as my feedback when I could hold an open C without pain knew I had the right direction. Picked up the guitar and started playing again. Joined guitar teaching courses online courses once my internet connection would allow it. So about 4 years some chords cant use normal finger pos not enough down press. So that there is no buzzing. Got a real nice playing guitar in Nashville that almost plays like an electric. Still have buzzing with my Martin and 12 string but keep trying never give up one day I will play them cleanly again. Guitar any music you do is a Journey you will have ups and downs reward your self when you get small wins learn some finger pick patterns you like and flat pick patterns. Strumming patterns. I mix picking with strumming to fill the song dynamics more. Pick songs you like strum with guitar muted along side the original when you have the count 4 /4 3/ 4 6/ 8 then apply your vocals but above all make it fun enjoy your journey.

That’s an inspiring story – you have a lot of stick-to-itiveness! I’ve been a singer most of my life, and tried various instruments. I am limited by missing a couple of fingers on my right hand. I have dabbled with penny whistle, harmonica, violin (none of which lend themselves easily to singing), and attempted guitar about 15 years ago. Online courses are a real game changer and I feel optimistic about making progress and maintaining a practice.

Piano is in your future dont need the finger press can play a lot just make a effort to teach your left hand the melody new e pianos can shift the high side to the low note side use the right for base notes and best of all anything you learn on guitar transfers to piano chords notes and the like all the same just different places. Best of luck in your guitar keep on pickin ha ha
