New Original: “That Little Boy”
I had the opportunity to attend a 4 day Song Writer Retreat in Leavenworth Washington at the Sleeping Lady Resort which is about 2 1/2 hours east of Seattle on the other side of the Cascade Mountains.
The retreat was more about personal development and reflection on song writing vs a “how to” focus. The facility was amazing with a recital hall fully equipped with all the instruments you would ever need, PA, stage etc. There were also 1/2 dozen small practice buildings – half of which had pianos in them as well.
Coming into the retreat my goal was to clean up a song and revisit another with regard to melody and chord progression. Both of those objectives were accomplished. What I did not expect was to come out of the retreat with a brand-new song. Friday was my son’s birthday so on Saturday I came up with a concept for a song inspired by him and by the end of the day had a draft. Today I recorded a very rough draft to continue to shape it and see where it wants to go. The video has some photos from the retreat where you can see the grounds and beautiful surroundings.

@Truckin-On Thanks for listening. It was just a quick recording to get something down. I will start putting down real tracks next week after playing a bit more with instrumentation ideas. It is really fun to play and a good exercise for me in fingerpicking a melody line within a song.
