Good afternoon TAC family, I currently own a Martin 000-18 and have been through quite a few guitars thanks to Guitar Center’s return policy. I just purchased a Takamine EF341DX, am I seeing things or shouldn’t the low end (height wise) of the saddle be on the treble side of the bridge (towards the floor, I’m right-handed )? Not too familiar with Takamine products, It does however sound good……just wondering.

@JoeT , I just looked em up and it looks like you have a beauty of a Dreadnought. You’ll have to tell us how she plays. By the way, Guitar-Center gets a lot of my business because of it great return policy. Happy strumming

Thank you, are you familiar with the saddle question?

Hi @JoeT , did you attach a pic? From your description it sounds like the saddle may have been installed backwards, or for a left handed guitar (or perhaps right handed if you bought a left handed guitar). In any case it does seem a bit odd.

I will up load one, it’s not even compensated, it has a back bevel the whole length of the saddle towards the bridge pins

The action is 7/64ths at the low E and 6/64ths at the high E. The action is a little high for my tastes, I will attempt to lower it a bit today and see what’s behind door number one! The intonation is pretty much spot on throughout the neck, give or take a little flat or sharp on random frets. I just thought it was odd. The response I got from the retailer was that guitars are imperfect instruments and that’s what it needed to set it up correctly……..I said BS!
