Over the Hill
Well, I maybe THINK there’s a small win I can celebrate in my own little world.
For some reason- (I have absolutely NO idea)- the opening part of the song “Over the Hills and Far Away”- (Led Zepellin), popped into my head. Probably haven’t heard that song in YEARS.
I know….. I think this stuff is just in some kind of orbit in my brain, and just once in a while passes in front of my “brain’s eye” and I see it as it passes, & “there it is”— completely outta nowhere. In this case, I can recall nearly every note and chord in that “Over the Hill”‘s first part.
Well, I’ve always thought that opening part was really cool. So I just grabbed my guitar and started foolin’ around with only that thought of those notes and chords runnin’ around in my brain…… (wow….. where did that hour and a half go?). Actually had some success with it- strictly from my head and from memory of that song.
Maybe– just maybe– this is some-sort of sign that I may someday be able to just pick up my guitar and play a song- (or play —along with— a song).
Small to some, but I’m takin’ it as a significant step(?)😕.

I understand Mark. I had a little help with mine. I was running errands one day and on Sirius XM came the Eagles, “Best Of My Love”. I thought, wow. That is just a chord progression. So I looked up the tab on it and have been working on it occasionally.
Good for you that something you heard or thought of, inspired you. Congrats on following up on the inspiration.

I know I definitely have a long ways to go on this kind of thing- but it really was fun to just mess with it- playing from my head.
Disclosure- I martymusic’d it the next day and found out I was FAIRLY close to having all the right notes/chords/progressions. Plenty of room for improvement– absolutely, but it sure was neat just realizing I can maybe accomplish this kind of thing!
