Posted by BrandonK on August 18, 2024 at 6:12 pmHi Everyone,
Does TAC go through Pentatonic Scales and if so where can I find them, which lesson?
Thank you,

Hey Brandon,
Wednesday lessons are usually when you can learn the various scales (see pic)
-
Is that the Pentatonic scale or just the scale Tony is showing for that exercise?

Brandon, it depends on the week.
Tony bases his exercises on the scales in specific key of the tune for that week. There are 5 pentatonic scales, and also major and minor scales.
Tony sometimes shows and demonstrates either a full scale or portions of a scale depending on what we need to achieve for the specific exercise.
If you want to see the full pentatonic scales there are plenty of videos online and books you can read on and familiarise yourself. However, when you first start with theory it can be very daunting and dry… That’s why Tony tries to make them interesting and introduce them with improv exercises

if you feel ready for some theory….

Thanks Beatric,
I am trying to learn the basic Pentatonic Scale because I saw a video about improving and they talked about finding the base note using the low e string. Then playing along using the base Pentatonic Scale. Which in the video they did not go through the scale, they just played.
This is why I was asking to if Tony in one of his training videos did he walk through a basic Pentatonic scale.

i don’t think he does the purely pentatonic patterns, probably because it’s covered millions of times on the internet. Do you have the Fretboard Wizard course? he talks about finding the root notes and keys to songs and the CAGED system that you might find useful. Otherwise, check YouTube, there are plenty of videos covering the various pentatonic shapes, Which are mostly variations of the basic shape I sent you a video of. Once you understand that concept, pentatonic scales will have no secrets for you 😉

Hi Beatrice,
I will start watching the Fretboard Wizard videos. I hope that is what I am looking for.

Fretboard Wizard is a great tool. It has a cost but its value to me has had a multiple return on investment.
