    Hi Everyone,

I am currently learning the lesson “practicing chord transitions.” My question may seem a little silly, but I wonder if, at the end of this lesson, I should be playing as fast as Tony does in the practice section.

If so, I’ll need to spend a lot more time on it. Was this the case for many of you, i.e., were you able to play as fast as Tony in this lesson?

    Thank you for your help,

    André

Not sure which lesson you are referring to, but NO! It’s never required to go 1x speed on any lesson in TAC. I am on session 558 and there are still challenges I don’t play at full speed. You don’t have to reach that level or play without mistakes to move forward to the next lesson or next series. Everything you are learning now will be repeated, progress before perfection!

As Pete said, you shouldn’t expect to play at Tony’s speed. You should go at YOUR speed. There are MANY lessons where I only learn a small portion of the “riff” or “technique” he shows, and I’ll slow it down and do whatever I can in the allotted time I have that day and call it a win!

Be proud that you are giving it all you can each day. It doesn’t really matter whether you can “finish” the lesson… what matters is showing up and trying. These small accomplishments add up quickly, and when the tutorial or technique shows up again down the road, you will be surprised at your improvement.

    Have fun!

Wow ! i’m very glad about what you wrote. I used to stick to a lesson thinking that i had to make my mastering better. Your answer will make my guitar’s journey more fun that it is already. Sorry about my english writing, i’m a french speaking person. Have a nice day Matt ! thanks again !

Hi Andre, Pete @petelanger covered it well.

I progressed faster once I wrapped my mind around the fact that Tony has been playing about 20 year longer than I have been playing. It gave me permission in my mind to be a learner.
