  • Routine challenges and a week of wins!

I’ve recently started working a part time, morning job. I’ve had to adjust my routine, as some mornings (Monday, Tuesday, Friday) I work at 4am. Those mornings, I practice when I get home. I’ve been playing less in general, but I’ve still been having breakthroughs. This week in particular has been excellent, and right up my alley. I have this thing called a pomodoro timer:

designed for distraction free intensive blocks of timed work. The pomodoro productivity method advocates brief, focused work with timed periods and breaks. A typical application is working on something for half an hour, absolute focus, then. Five minute break, repeat. I’ve been doing the previous day’s work for ten minutes, taking five, then doing today’s. This morning, I did 10 minutes of Monday’s timing/hammer-on practice, 5 minutes of Tuesday’s lick, 5 minutes of Wednesday’s scale, and 10 minutes of focused practice of today’s progression after playing along with the video. I really came a long way! I’ve found the whole world of fingerstyle blues in G is opening up to me!

Thanks for the tip @Bill1am. I programmed a pomodoro timer a few years back when I was learning Python so I’m familiar with the concept.
