Show off Your Routine
Hey TAC Family!!!
I wanted to show you what my routine looks like 🙂
1.) How many days per week do you play?
In the routine I’ve outlined for myself I’ve committed to 6 to 7 days per week (Monday through Sunday).
2.) What time of day do you play?
Usually its right after I eat lunch, 1:00pm. If I’m not around the house at lunchtime, it’s as soon as I get home, with 5:00 pm as my final get it done time.
3.) Where do you play?
I have my own ‘Music room’ where the stereo is located along with all the tools for my guitar playing.
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
I started playing for a couple years about 20 years ago. As usual ‘life’ got in the way and I stopped playing until right after I retired. I was cleaning out the house of unnecessary stuff and came across my old guitars. It was then decision time, either they were goint to be sold or used. Luckily used won.
I came across the TAC method about 4 months into my ‘renewal’. The discipline of 10 minutes a day, slowily evolved into about an hour a day on average.
The routine consists of: warm ups, scales, caged routine, current songs I’m learning, I end with what I call kanoodling, which is I play whatever I want. I keep a daily journal with what I practiced and what does & doesn’t work that day.
A set routine has been a great help in ignoring all the musical “squirrels” that come across in emails, u tubes etc.
The best result has been my wife telling me, that when she works from home she is now actualy enjoys listening to my playing!
5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
A GOOD Chair!!!
