sing along songs to learn
Posted by Ron-A on February 10, 2025 at 1:58 pmHi fellow TACers,
Any suggestions on where to go to download tablature to learn songs with chords and lyrics? Free would be ideal but interested in recommended sources also.
Thanks!

@Ron-a, I use Chordify all the time. You can get two free songs a day. Or if you sign up, you have unlimited songs, and also other features like slowing down or speeding up. The songs are based on the original tuning, speed and chords.

I have used Lauren Bateman, Guitar Tabs app, and Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Most YouTube songs show a tab as they teach, too. You won’t have any shortage of finding tabs for most songs you wish to put into your back pocket. TAC gives you the technique to pursue about any song you eventually want to play. Fretboard Wizard helps you to know why the song is played as it is and reduces that memory work

@Ron-A I have found a ton of free How to play ___________ on Youtube. Free is good, inexpensive is too, I found Ultimate Guitar will periodically offer their massive catalog for $20 per year so I snapped that up. It was probably premature, I’m not that focused on playing songs at this point in my journey. However, I have gone into it quite a few times to look up chords so it was worth it.
Just recently I looked up the outro to ‘Starship Trooper’ by Yes and it showed the TABS, the chord shapes and has a play button so you can listen as the cursor runs through the TABs. There’s a ton more but that was all I needed. It just filled my heart with warmth, being able to (very poorly) play a riff that I’ve loved for decades, the kind that have led many of us to the guitar and to TAC.
