Echoes
The scene is set, the boards enthral
The words learnt, the curtain falls
The act begins, your hopes guide
Spotlight shines, where shadows hide
Like Beatrice she waits, her final scene
Finding her prince, from the unforeseen
A gentle monologue, a character refined
Questions caring, attentive and kind
Longing for scenes, where you entwine
For a winged Cupid, painted blind
But tension rises, you scare and recline
His script distant, vows assigned
Was it infatuation
Written in your part
Or a hidden dream
Of your heart
Rehearsals haunting
The truth to find
Is that love in your lines
Or echoes of, mine
You hide passion, in a tragic scene
Longing to share, your solitary scream
Waiting a prompt, you may never hear
Alabaster’s anxious, to appear
Was it infatuation
Written in your part
Or a hidden dream
Of your heart
Rehearsals haunting
Your truth to find
Is that love in your lines
Or echoes of, mine
Question belief, as curtain calls
Soliloquy breaks, your fourth wall
Is that love in your lines
Or echoes of mine
Unspoken you share
Whispered, prayers
