  • The 30 Days To Play Lessons

    Hello folks,

Glenn here with a Rookie question I am sure. I am going through the 30 Days To Play Guitar Lessons, and I have a question. When in “Learn” mode of making chords, Tony identifies how to make the chord, and then shows a great practice routine to get into the habit of making that chord. He states a count down from 5 to zero for you to create and strum the chord. He also states that he will make it progressively harder by counting down from 3, and then finally 1.

When I go into play mode, he is there counting down from 5, But, I cannot find the count down from 3 or 1?

Also, in the exercises to manipulate the chords, he states he will play a slow tempo at first, and then gradually increase the tempo?? I can only see the first, really slow tempo in any of the videos. These questions are based on the learning chords lessons.

any help would be greatly appreciated?

    Glenn

Hey Glenn. I’m new to the program too, actually still in week one of the 30-Day program. I’ve seen the same thing with week one and wrote to ask TAC Support about it. They replied that some of the “Learn” videos are being reworked to remove the language related to speeds in the “Play” videos. I haven’t seen your specific issue yet, but I have seen the same type of thing in week one and I bet they are related.

This answer probably won’t help you much except to let you know that you aren’t doing anything wrong or missing anything. Things are just changing and we’re kinda caught in the middle of all of it.

Thank you for that info 🤘It is not a big deal, I can easily use a metronome to time my tempo, I was just wondering that’s all. This is actually day 2 for me 😁 I have been playing a long time but by ear only. I cannot read music, nor am I familiar with much theory. Hopefully that will change here, and I went through the 30 days to prime course in 1 day. Fairly familiar with most of the stuff, BUT, very committed to acting as though I know ZERO! His approach to teaching is Far from anything I have seen before, and I have already learned as much or more here than any other online platform. His teaching technique is Awesome! I hope you are enjoying it so far, and if you ever need any kind of Support or just an outside opinion on anything, Anything at all, just let know 🤘 Thanks again.

I’m right there with you both. Looks like we all started about the same time. I’m going back and forth from 30 days lessons 1 and 2 and then to fretboard wizard. Picked up a lot in just a few days. I really like this program. Cya around the forum! Good luck to all!

hey Blueslife 🤘- great to meet you – I am in that 30 day lesson – all the time – the exercises that he uses are totally different than the ones I used when I started playing – these are so much more focused! Incredible stuff – enjoy your journey

They sure are. I took lessons back around 2013 for awhile and already picked up and understand more than I did back then. I like just watching his videos. Played around with switching from D-C chords tonight and strumming. I never could get chord changes down before. I like how he teaches everything in small bits.

That is awesome 🤘- here is a tip to try…..it worked pretty good for me when I was learning. Once you have your chord made, and it sounds good, just lift your fingers off the strings, leaving them in that exact same shape. Strum your open strings. Now, with your fingers still in that same chord shape, drop them back down on the strings to form the chord. Strum your chord, and be sure all your strings sound out…no bad sounds. Then repeat this for 8 or 10 times each. This helps your fingers / fretting hand remember the shapes so when you are moving from one chord to another, your shape is pretty well built before you get to fretting the next chord. Just something to try – it may help you like it helped me.

Hey @BluesLife! Nice to meet you too. Yep just got started a few days ago. Working my way through the 30-day, at the end of Week 2, so ahead of schedule, and using the time to go back through the first two weeks and practice what I learned. The power chords have been a bit of a struggle when moving up and down the neck, but other than that things are going pretty well. Holler if I can be of help or “no help”. 🙂
