Travelling abroad
Posted by anthony3 on January 26, 2026 at 5:45 amHi Tony and all TAC Members, I’m traveling abroad this week without my guitar, and I’ll be returning to Italy on Friday. Should I try to squeeze my weekly routine into the three days between Friday and Sunday, or should I skip the week? I can still log in every day to learn about the daily challenges, but until Friday I can’t practice…Thanks for your advice!

When I travelled to Europe last year for 10 days I just skipped most of it. I was able to do some of the second week because I came home on Friday and had the weekend but I didn’t go through all challenges. You won’t have gaps, the same topics will come again within a few weeks in a different challenge and the challenges repeat at least once a year (benchmarks every 4 months). I did logon from my phone a few times just to see what I was missing.

Thank you so much Perelanger, you’ve comforted me, I’ll do the same! I think I can also connect with my cell phone to see what the challenges are for the week… today’s one seemed fun and I was sorry to miss it.

@anthony3
Every week is a self contained lesson, when you a miss a week because your life happens, it won’t matter at all. It’s designed to teach things repeatedly in a cyclical fashion. That’s why newbies can join any time of year and just pick up where all the TAC students are. It makes things nice because everyone (aside from the intro 30Days and 5Days) is on the same lessons. When you need help there are hordes of TAC members at various skill levels doing it with you and willing to share experiences with you.Even individual daily challenges are self contained in a way. If you miss Mon, you can skip and start Tuesday. If you are a very new player it can be extra difficult to come in on Thurs or Fri since those are most advanced concepts, but you will still get something out of it regardless.

I would suggest playing as much as you can. I take a little Martin Backpacker guitar on my trips. Fits nicely in the overhead bins. Doesn’t sound the best, but at least I have something to fret and play.

I don’t know @Skyman911 flights within European countries have crazy baggage restrictions. I looked into it before my trip and decided it just wasn’t worth spending the extra luggage fees. It was hundreds potentially, you could buy a nice used guitar.

I was just mentioning what I do when I travel. I wasn’t suggesting they go out and buy a Martin Backpacker.

Hi Tony and all TAC Members, I’m traveling to Cozumel, Mexico for a week Jan 31-Feb7. I won’t be logging in and practicing during this time. On my return, I’ll pick up where I left off; I’m on week 2 – Chords. And if I need help getting back my momentum, I’ll reach out to the TAC Community!

If possible, stop in at a music store and pretend you’re looking at the guitars and you’d like to try out a few. Maybe at least get your 10 minutes in !!
