Triads
Hi
I am trying to understand triads. Seems like many of the online discussions keep me confused. Any suggestions on a site that explains triads in a very basic way. I have seen Am triads shown in different ways which are not explained why they are Am triads. Maybe I am trying to make it more difficult than it is. Looking for a thorough basic lesson. Thanks!

A triad is simply 3 notes. (The major triad is the first, third and fifth notes of the scale). The three notes can be inverted like 3-5-1 or 5-3-1 or 3-1-5 or 5-1-3 (called first or second inversions depending on which note is the lowest) and get a different sound but they are still a triad. A triad can be played in more than one place on the neck. The minor triad has a flatted 3rd note. The Am triad would be A-C-E since the C# is flatted. I hope some of this helps.
