Why I'm Here

I played piano, sax & did vocal music in school as a kid. Never could get past the fingers hurting stage of guitar. I started to play piano again but found myself not enjoying the isolation that happened when I would be playing on the other side of the house from where my family was. So I picked up the “family” guitar which is a 70’s Epiphone FT-120 that has sat in various closets for the past 40 years and started practicing. My newborn daughter enjoys watching me play and I get to practice in the living room near the family. Best of both worlds. As of July 2016, I had been saving up for a new guitar for awhile and came across a Luthier shop selling a 2007 Martin D-35 in amazing condition for a deal. So I am now playing the Martin and loving it, nough said.

City

Music was a calm and spiritual place for me as a kid growing up. Now as an adult with a very stressful occupation and having 2 teens and a newborn, I find that learning guitar is both a calming place and a wonderful sense of achievement. Even the most intense barre chord is more easily achieved than teaching a teenager how to clean their room. Much to my dismay I have not been able to self teach myself guitar the way I have been everything else in life (engineering, saxaphone, etc). I realistically may never have the time to be in a band or the talent to be famous, but I used to compose my own music and hope that I can get back to that with the guitar.
