Outstanding Michelle! I am glad you revisited this song. Awesome Job! Did you look back at the difference a month made? I did!
From my inexpert perspective, and these are my honest opinions… not even trying to just be nice. Your sense of timing and rhythm has improved immensely. The rhythm you chose is much more interesting than the one on day 56. You are more willing to rock the boat with technique including adding the Sus2 instead of just stopping at the Sus4 chord, and you are picking base notes! Not only that but the singing seems to have a better cadence and flows better than day 56.
Wow, what improvement in just a months time!!!! Congratulations! what an incredible win!

There is a prescribed way of nail grooming for classical guitar
http://classicalguitar101.org/classical-guitar-nails.html#.YIlbc7VKjIUthere are fingerpicks that you wear of all sorts (including stick on)
then there is just growing your nails out just long enough for you to fingerpick comfortably.
I think Tony Covered some of this on an AT episode, though I am not sure which one, and I am not sure if it was the main topic.

Very well done Kevin. I really enjoy your expressive singing. Solid guitar performance too!

In my opinion, and in my experience, the advice to get your first song under your belt is absolutely the best advice for (re)kindling the motivation to learn. @Michelle-PSL hit the nail on the head in my opinion on that one. I try to tell folks to learn a song as soon as possible. the rest will come.
If you Like CCR – Bad Moon Rising is just 3 chords D A G – It is really fun to strum and mess with the rhythm with. Hours of fun can be had on just that one song.
Don’t be discouraged, you can do this!

That is a great testimony to consistent practice! Fantastic win congratulations!

Happy Tacaversarry!!! That is a handsome looking instrument in that picture right there!

Thanks Kevin!
I had a finger picking pattern or two figured out for this song, but decided to try to strum it because in this case it was the hard way for me. It’s nice to know you have faced this struggle too! It’s encouraging to hear from someone who has tackled the same thing successfully. One day we will both be able to just play whatever we want with enough practice!

I looked up the history of the song too. I thought it was about Bill Robinson, but it turns out that Jerry Jeff Walker met the man the song is about in a jail long after Bill Robinson had passed. It was a white man (I guess even jail was segregated then too) who was a drunk that would only give his name as Bo Jangles. the author would only have been 7 when the real Bojangles died of heart disease.
That being said Bill Robinson’s life is a good subject for study. Seems to have been a solid Dude and an early civil rights protagonist when it was dangerous to be so. He was the highest paid black man in the U.S. making about $3500/week at his best.

Thank you. It wasn’t easy for me mostly because of the timing and picking the baseline while strumming. It is something I would usually do with my thumb while scratching the rythm with my fingers. This time I decided to go the full monty and use the pick only.

Thanks, when I first started to learn this song I would slip into and out of 4/4. That is something I wish I could do on purpose… maybe some day

Shoot, I wish it was easy, it took all my concentration, hence the mumble singing.
But thank you, I do think this was breakthrough song for me for a couple of skills that are just starting to gel a little.
