I played guitar and sang for a living back in the later 70s and early 80s. Primarily known as a singer, I received some excellent lessons from a guitar teacher, who unfortunately died after 2-3 months of lessons. I learned advanced jazz guitar chord positions, but never learned the fundamentals of advanced finger picking style, rhythym guitar, bossa nova, or guitar effects – but I did manage to make a living. Stopped playing professionally after around 1988. Play occasionally now – but would really like to get better. My goal is to improve in the guitar so that it frees me up to sing. I bought my Taylor nylon string guitar 2 years ago, and find that it best compliments both my guitar and vocal styles.
