| Why I'm Here |
Great to be here on TAC.Contemplated it for a while and made the plunge!!I have been playing guitar since 1982.Well, hell, that’s 35 years…Started playing guitar after a head injury in High School football and couldn’t play anymore.Couldn’t see myself just sitting around doing nothing.Learned by ear for the most part, played in school choir, and lots of campfire jam sessions.Up to this point mostly strumming and have been complimented on my playing and singing. My wife LOVES picking and has always wanted me to become more proficient. With life (4 kids, my own Technology & Security company, and way too many hobbies) I have learned some picking but need so much more.I started really trying to learn how to finger pick about 3-4 years ago and made some progress but realized I needed some basics that I missed. So now, learning the notes on the neck, and with TAC plan to learn chord patterns, root notes, etc. and will be the “picking machine”!Glad to be a part of this community and hope to offer something eventually.
Oh, and my guitars. Well, they are mine, and I really like them, so get your own, play it often, learn it deeply, and you will play YOUR guitar well. I have had many, some really cheap (college days…) and some really nice (Martin, Takamine, & Taylor). I have had positive results and compliments on my $40 Applause (Ovation copy) and on each guitar I have ever played. The best advice is play your guitar, learn it, listen to it, and make it sound like you want. Obviously, high quality guitars sound better and are easier to play but they should NEVER be a reason to not learn. Buy what you can, and play that sucker like no one else ever could!!
