Hi Jill welcome to TAC Ive been a member for a few years and have learned a lot even though Ive been playing for several years. So I think youre in a good place. Tony has a good teaching style and will cover many different areas and techniques. Each day of the weekly challenge is devoted to a specific area or skill, for example Wednesday is scales and improvisation. Thursday is a chord progression. Usually, but not always, he is highlighting a particular song, so by the end of the week you’ll have the basic idea of that song (doesnt mean you’ll play it well by then, requires several more hours of practice:) Other weeks will be focused on the blues. To answer your question: yes, you should jump right in and start the daily challenges, but heres the thing…this program is developed for folks of all skill levels, so some of the challenges are more difficult than others. For the more challenging ones, Tony will alwys provide a few options of doing the challenge …easy, harder, hardest…so you work on whatever level youre at. The days also rotate through and repeat so in six months down the road you do the challenge again and see your progress. Also important not to get too hung up on perfecting the challenge before you move to the next one. Give each one your best shot and then go the next. I think its good to cover as many of the five days tho again because each day is a different skill\technique. If a particular week isnt doing it for you dont worry about it, give it some attention but then wait for the next week. My point is dont be too hard on yourself and dont worry if some of the material is beyond your ability or understanding. Remember perfection is the enemy of good, and good is relative. If you do get into a daily routine and practice smart you will 100% get better and better. But remember its a long game…Personally I use TAC as a component of my daily practice and spend just as much time doing other things (although some of those things i may have picked up from TAC). I play every day for at least an hour but I sometimes skip TAC for days, weeks, but always come back, and like I say, im a fan of Tony’s mehtods and Ive learned a lot. Plus I pften repeat favourite sessions. Last bit of advice, think about also completing the Fretboard Wizard program. This will give you a basic understanding of guitar theory which is pretty important to truly understand what youre doing with the instrument. The other reason I like TAC is its a very supportive community and so if you have a question just throw it up and someone will help you out. Also check out the Play for Us Forum which is a lot of fun. Obviously this wasnt the short answer to your question…but hope it helps. Enjoy your guitar Jill, it can change your life. Rock on sis

Hi Pete! thanks for watching and your comments. Yep, so many great Canadian acts over the years. I concur with all on your list but will add Leonard Cohen, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Crash Test Dummies, Cowboy Junkies, and Blue Rodeo just to name a few more. Too bad you never connected with the Hip but I would say keep on trying! Thanks again brother and keep on rockin!
