Thanks for the information… I have considered an audio interface and looking closer at the online apps. I wouldn’t mind paying for a premium app if it works. I really don’t want to need a degree in sound engineering to use it, so where to start is something I’m struggling with. If I can get something going with my brother, it would be great to reach out to other musicians as well…

We spent about and hour messing with Zoom audio settings and found improvements, but never totally tackled problems with it cutting one of us out. Keeping the voice and guitar volumes at audible levels on both sides seemed to fade in and out. Maybe, just need more time messing with it. Was able to play one at a time, but more often than not the signal seemed to collide when we tried to play simultaneously.
