Why I'm Here

I have owned at least one guitar since I was 12 years old (i’m now 48). The first riff I learned to play was “Cat Scratch Fever” by Ted Nugent, and it was taught to me by an uncle. I grew and (under)developed by insisting that I would only ever play electric guitar and only play hard rock/heavy metal. I played in a few cover bands in college doing just that. That was easy-nothing but power chords and loud volume. I had fun, but was always embarrassed by my lack of knowledge of the instrument. I understood theory, as I had played piano since I was in elementary school, but I had no idea how to apply it to the guitar. As I’ve gotten older, and my tastes have expanded, I want to “know” the instrument. I now have two electric guitars, two acoustic guitars, an ukulele, and a mandolin. I am a student of all, and a master of none!

City

I want to enjoy my own playing and give others enjoyment through my music. I currently play in an Irish House band; so, I want to be better in all aspects of my playing-understanding rhythms, alternate tunings, being a solid accompanist, showing confidence while performing…the list goes on. I also want to just be able to sit around a campfire and play entire tunes-not just riffs, licks, and disjointed pieces.
