| This is How I TAC |
I’ve been switching between playing the Celtic harp and the guitar. Haven’t played guitar in 30+ years and just bought one in September 2021 (nylon string) and then switched up to a Taylor GS Mini in November 2021. I have calluses now, so it is not as uncomfortable to play as it has been.
I started TAC in February 2022 and bought yet another guitar – A Zager Parlor style guitar which arrived in May 2022. That one took forever to settle in, though, and I didn’t play that in public until October. I played my GS Mini at 5 open mikes and 1 open mike on the Zager. THEN I bought another Taylor – a model 322 Grand Concert, 12 fret guitar – I have really small hands, yet I was missing the focused sound of a full size Taylor. I got this guitar in February 2023 – and played it 13 times at open mikes this past year.
I usually pick up the guitar in the morning – and I have tunes that I am working on, on both harp and guitar. so I play through the tune on both instruments and try to improve what I am doing each day.
I play almost daily, and it is usually 1/2 hour to 1 hour. I participated in open mikes last year at a local winery (outside) – I attended every week, but actually played 1-2 times per month. They allow 3 songs/tunes, so whenever I felt that I had 3 tunes that interested me, I would sign up to play. I’m still doing the same thing, approaching the end of year 2 with TAC. My guitar binder keeps expanding, so I have a few more tunes than I did when I started.
