My Guitar Goal
What I'm Focused On Now | July 2021 – We will be going to the UK for a month. I have rented a collapsible Journey Guitar just so I could practice at least 10 minutes a day. My goal for these 90 days is to try and play at least 5 days a week.
April 2021 – I want to play better. I have been “dabbling” for over 40 years now! |
My Guitar Routine
This is How I TAC |
Hey TAC Family!!! This is what my guitar routine looks like: 1.) How many days per week do you play? I now play at least 5 days a week as I do the TAC program and I also have a guitar teacher that comes to the house on Tuesday evenings. On Tuesdays, I also get to play with my guitar teacher and with my son whom is a drummer. It is a lot of fun for all of us! If I get to play on the weekends then it is a bonus! 2.) What time of day do you play? I normally play after dinner time and all the chores are done. This is normally around 8pm and normally start with TAC Daily Challenge, then do a finger exercise (currently working on making a consistent F barre chord!!), then do a lesson in one of the skills lessons and finally end with some improvising playing some lead while having a backing track playing. 3.) Where do you play? Most of the time I play in my bedroom or downstairs in the TV room because my son’s drum kit is there. I sometimes play in the living room as well. I live in a 3 story house and I have a pair of guitars on each floor as I do not have a dedicated music room. 4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways). Before my routine, I was definitely a dabbler! I would like the tab of a song and play it ok. Then stop and forget it. Not come back to my guitars for over 2 or 3 months. Pick it up, play for maybe a week and then stop again. Learn the same chords again and again. Take lessons, then stop due to schedule conflicts and then start up again and learn the same items. Because I now play every day, I feel my playing has improved dramatically. I am a lot more consistent and enjoy playing my guitars. I never feel like “I have to practice” more like “what I am going to learn next? What is the next daily challenge today?” 5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine? This is an easy one. Definitely my notebook and pen. I take notes on all the things that I learnt with TAC and what I need to work on or find out about. Usually means that I will go to the forums and either ask/answer questions or search the groups for the answer to my particular problem. The absolute best thing about TAC is the members! You definitely feel welcomed and everyone seems to be cheering you on to become a better person and guitar geek.
