Five months isn’t very long in a guitar journey. TAC isn’t a competition you have to win. It’s a resource. Use it. Take what you can and leave the rest. I also use another site that has weekly lessons. They are almost all way over my head, with my 4 years of playing. But I spend 10-20 minutes on them and learn what I can. No way I’d spend an hour or two banging my head against a wall. This thing is supposed to be fun.

I’ve been following a stretching routine similar to what Tony teaches for a long time. As far as the actual warmup on the guitar, it changes from time to time. It may be a chromatic or another scale. It may be pieces of songs I’m working on, or songs that are comfortable for me. But regardless, it starts off very slow and builds up to medium. Then I usually take a 5m break and do some more stretching before I get serious.

I’ve been doing fingerstyle for years, but was surprised how quickly the pick felt comfortable in my hand. More so with single string that strumming, but it’s coming along quickly.

Two different directions last time. The Musicians Way, and Eric Claptons Autobiography

Very nice. Enjoyed the performance.

Beautiful and inspirational!

Congratulations on a year. Looking forward to my anniversary. Only 360 days to go.

I just hit 5, so you need to start looking over your shoulder.
Really, man, congratulations. That is an impressive commitment.

Thanks, OC. Today was a great example. I got the boom chick easily. That was already in my wheelhouse. But I’ve only recently started working on crosspicking. So, I got through it ok at a very slow speed. Next time around, I’ll do a little better.
-
Yeah, I’ll practice it again tomorrow, but then it’s time to move on. Have most notes down at a fairly slow speed. 2 or 3 bars hanging me up. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Thanks for the feedback, Loraine. I always break my practice into 5-20 minute chunks with 5-20 minute breaks in between. It’s better for me physically, I can focus better, and there’s that science behind that says retention will be better.
I was mostly just on about Tony’s commit to 10 minute mantra, when the daily videos alone are 15-20 minutes even without practicing the Daily Challenge.
At any rate, one daily challenge down and looking forward to tomorrow. When he played “what we will learn by the end of the week,” I was skeptical, but today came pretty easy, so I can’t wait to get the first week under my fingers.

Thank you, that makes sense and will likely be my approach as well. I waffle between being highly structured and being less so. But always with a focus on whatever I am working on at the moment.
I am also confident that there will be weeks I will want to get by with the minimum and others I will return to.

Thanks, Loraine. I’m already seeing the value. The whole concept is strange compared to any other lessons I’ve ever taken, but hopefully, I will stick with it. I do have a problem with implementation, I’ll talk about in another post.
