Why I'm Here

I want to grow in to a better guitar player.  I picked up/nicked a guitar from my Dad’s basement at a really bad time in my life.  I was essentailly homeless and penniless due to pending divorce, and I needed to foucus on anything but the hell I was going through.  Along with the guitar I took a book on the basics of guitar.  It was ugly at first , but I had a few songs I knew well and I tried to learn the chords to see if what I was doing even sounded correct.  It worked but it took a long time.  I loved playing for me but I have been scared shitless to try to jam with anyone or even do an open mic.    I kept at at and got to around 10 songs I could play and I would run through those song  almost 3-4 times a week.

My luck really turned around in 2017 when I married Liz, I even worked up enough courage to play her a song at our wedding.  She is a huge Tom Petty fan so I surprised her with an acoustic version of “King’s Highway” .  It was the most nerve-racking experience but the shock and awe on her face was worth it. Someone has it on video, I should upload it.  Many mistakes made, but if I didn’t do it it would have been a life long regret.

But I digress, I’m here to 1)build the skills, 2) gain confidence to be able to pull out the guitar and play for Liz and our pandemic baby due in Sept. baby girl Bailey. Lockdown was good for something I guess:). 3) I have written a few songs lyrically and I want to get those into  musical arrangements and 4)I’d love to get out there in 2021 and do some open mics once this damn covid is on the retreat.

My Guitar Routine

This is How I TAC
  • A perfect week would be 6 day of at least 15 min with the guitar.
  • I will be practicing in the mornings

-I’m the early riser of the family so I usually get a solid 2 hours to myself in the AM

-Main focus will be on the daily lessons

-If time allows I will alternate between

-learning some songs I want to play live

-Taking some of the course provided

-working on original songs

  • I have a dedicated space with my guitar and my access to the TAC site via my MS Surface.

It has been a daily routine for me the past 2 months and I was able to  adjust when traveling using a 3/4 guitar I got my son a few years back.
