My Guitar Goal

What I'm Focused On Now

To connect the dots in terms of my musical direction and follow the program and realize some progress with how smooth I move between chords on the fretboard. I am most concerned with timing and staying within the boxes or measures as determined by the time signature. The key is not to feel like I am always taking 3 steps forward and then taking 4 steps backward. I want to enjoy the experience of playing and not feeling intimidated when I jam with other folks.

Be it strumming or finger picking or whatever this is the next step in my growth as a guitarist. Mostly I want to take what I know and move forward with the support of Tony and this guitar community. No more just playing scales of all types and shapes. I want direction toward the goal of playing with friends and fellow musicians.

My Guitar Routine

This is How I TAC

Guitar is my main focus and outlet post retirement and so I play on average 1-2 hours 5 or 6 times a week now. Sometimes I will play in the morning and other times in the evening. Usually I begin with scales and then I shift to technique and finally playing songs.

For a long period I have worked on finger picking and now I am concerned  with my strumming skills. I know most barre chords so that is part of my playing around with voicings. Recently I discovered a guitar that is a size down from my standard sized guitar and it has been fun. Singing along with playing is also something I have been working on and that is another skill area indeed.
