    Hi Barbara

What I do when i find an area of my playing i want to work on is to do a Youtube search. So “play perfect chords” or “make fast chord changes” find some exercises and practice. Justine has some lessons on these things and his stuff is always good. There is a huge difference between playing our guitar and practicing our guitar. This is why I like TAC so much, Tony forces us to practice a little each day and we get better a little each day. Find some chord changing exercises and practice one for 5 minutes each time you sit down to practice and you will get better.

Switching my guitar to my left leg has made a big difference in my playing. With my heel raised on a foot stool, the guitar feels secure against my body, making it easier to find a relaxed, comfortable posture. This setup keeps my wrist straight, my thumb naturally mid-neck, and my fingers in an easy arch, making fretting and even tricky barre chords feel much smoother. Much less pain in wrist and fingers. Don’t think I will ever go back.

    Hi Michael,

The answer is yes trip-a-let the way it is written. You could just play 2 notes per beat as log as you keep the swing beat that Tony talked about in the lesson where the “a” in triplet is implied not played. I played around with playing the first 6 measures playing all 3 notes in the triplet. It’s fun to play around.

    Hey Brent

Do the daily challenges each day as best you can, and keep practicing what you learned in the 30-day challenge. Try finding some easy songs to learn, maybe even ones you played 50 years ago—you might be surprised at how quickly they come back. And as you know, there are hundreds of beginner songs on YouTube. From one old guy to another—yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Moose is right on. I’ll just add that whatever you jump into you can always back off if it is to far beyond you skill level.

I should keep track maybe every 2-6 months. When I do change them it seems like NGD. I really like the crisp clear sound new strings give my guitar. I think I will change them later today.

It’s been really fun seeing everyone’s replies and the variety of music we all enjoy listening to and playing. I’ve added some great songs to my playlists—ones I hadn’t heard before—and a few to my “want to play” list for the future. Someone mentioned they’re learning a song by Ten Years After, a band I used to listen to but hadn’t thought about in almost 40 years. So I’ve been listening to some Ten Years After this week.

Timely question since we are only holding the G chord in todays challenge – Mississippi Timing. I noticed my 5th string was sounding muted playing single strings and dead when i would try hammer on on the high E string.

I have been rewatching some of Tony’s basic courses and remembered that we are supposed to hold the guitar so the front is at 90 degrees to the floor. The front of the guitar is straight up and down. As soon as I moved my guitar to that position I immediately started to get much cleaner notes. But now i have a new challenge I have always played played with guitar turned up so i could see my frets and now I can’t see them. Something new to work on.

Looks like a looper would add a lot fun to playing. Might have to add one to my Christmas list.

I have read that is “better form” to not have your pinky on the pick guard but many great guitarists do. I see Tony do it at times. Great song.

I have seen that quick chord change exercise. Looks like a good one I may add that in the future.

Pinky on the pick guard is another thing I am working on.
