    Same here. I have tried to use thumb and finger picks before, but never had any proper instruction, so abandoned them pretty quickly. This time I decided to try taking my time and going very slowly and just follow along with the video. If there was a section that was giving me trouble I concentrated on that. After a while they almost felt natural. Will definitely continue to work on this.

    I avoided using a metronome for oh 30 years or so. Once I got the hang of it, I really enjoy using it. It’s a great tool for gauging your progress . Start really slow and keep it simple. I promise, it gets better the more you do it. 😀

    Precisely correct, some thicknesses lend themselves to picking, others to strumming. I used to have a single preferred thickness but that has changed. I would NEVER use a heavy pick before, but now I realize that it has its applications and uses. Would I strum with it, probably not, but then again, depends on what guitar, what string gauge and what the song calls for. Definitely one of the least expensive explorations of tonal variety that you’ll ever encounter!
