Welcome to TAC !
I just did the 30 day challenge and essentially went back over the lessons when there wasn’t a new one. Depending on your skill level and how well you feel you are progressing, you can also go on to the next week’s lesson. I finished the 30 Day Challenge in about 18 days, since I had played guitar before. I probably could have gone faster except for waiting until my fingers toughened up a bit !

My 3rd finger seems to automatically mute it when I shift my fingers from the G chord ! Sometimes poor technique works out for the best !

Welcome to TAC. I’m a new member myself, having joined just before Christmas. Have you done the 30 day challenge yet ? They are less onerous as there isn’t really a new video every day. As for the TAC videos, some will fall into your wheelhouse fairly quickly, and others won’t. If you’re a raw beginner, you may not even be able to finish a challenge, as your fingers won’t be tough enough. The idea is to do what you can, and move on. Eventually, your progression will allow you to finish, IF you put in your 10 minutes a day. I’m probably doing a bit more than that. and I’ve had some previous experience ! They are still really challenging to complete. Keep at it !

That is odd. I stared just before Christmas and have no problems logging on. The pages are very slow to load, but I haven’t had any of the issues you have had. Hopefully some long term TAC members can come up with the proper contact.

MemberDecember 28, 2025 at 10:53 am in reply to: Improving Chord Change accuracy and speedThere are 2 things I have tried that have helped. The first is to not only pay attention to your fingers on the frets, but also pay attention to your thumb and the palm of your hand on the neck. Get the feeling of your WHOLE hand for the chord shape. Second, once you have the shape “perfected”, bounce the shape on and then off the strings so you get used to how your hand lands on the neck and fretboard. Then progress to taking your hand away and putting it on your knee, then re-forming the chord shape as you bring it to the guitar. Hope this helps.

I think the D-G-B-E strings work well since they are closer to the fret board than the E and A strings if you have a proper setup. I spent most of my day adjusting the action on my guitar to get this as close as possible without fret buzz. Even had to file down one of my frets !

These are great suggestions. Since starting TAC in December, I’ve had to “re-learn” how to finger the strings, since I used to press more with the pads of my fingers. Even after almost a month, the tips of my fingers are calloused, but still sore, since that’s not where I’m used to putting my fingers. ( the slides with the middle finger from this week’s challenge were particularly hard !) Every week gets better, and I keep an emory board close to my guitar to keep those fingernails short.

Thanks for the info. I know the streaks aren’t really going to be maintainable since I’l probably be going away for vacation and won’t bring the guitar.

There’s not a video every day, but you can use the “days off” to work on what you learned in the videos. I had previously played some guitar, so I went through the 30 day Challenge in about 2 weeks. I based that on a few things. 1. Letting my fingers toughen up , 2. Refining some technique to try to get rid of bad habits, and 3. Keeping it interesting. I think the 30 day challenge is perfect for new guitar players, but for those of us getting back into it, I found I needed to skip ahead to stay motivated. I think you have to discover your own pace. If you find one of the weeks pretty easy, then start the next week’s lesson. Chords and transitions will always be the most challenging, I think, so that is something you will have to continually work on, even as you progress to the next lessons.

MemberDecember 31, 2025 at 2:31 pm in reply to: Improving Chord Change accuracy and speedYou’re quite welcome. Just to clarify the technique of “bouncing” the fingers on and off the strings, keep your thumb and palm in the same position on the neck…just let your fingers come off the strings, and then right back on. Sometimes I will then progress to just easing off the pressure from my thumb as well, but I make sure I can re-finger the strings correctly before taking my whole hand off the neck.

That’s good to know !! Thanks.
