I’m so right there with you. It felt impossible to me too. This is where Tony’s trust-the-process phrase has to ring out in our minds. Sorry, you got a blister…OUCH! That is a real dedication to continue without pause when you are hurting and feel discouraged (I was having to fight discouragement too). So hats off to you. Now pull up your beach lounger I mixed you a tequila sunrise. 🤣 🍷

Congrats that’s some real progress. I’m getting better but still not at 1x playing. WTG. 🤩
-
Thats awesome. I love it when some evidence shows that I’m progressing in some way.

Hope you are feeling better. I use the weekends as well to go over all the challenges from the week. I never master the lesson during the lesson, often I don’t even get to the point of being able do the play-along even at the lowest speed, hopefully, that will come in time, but I am finding myself progressing each week. Good for you practicing even while you were sick.

So nice. Beautiful.
When you say improvise, do you mean you were making it up while you were playing it? Or did you know before what you were going to play? I’m new to TAC and I’m finding I’m struggling just to get somewhat through what he shows us in the daily challenges and the improvisation one has me lost. Today I was just focused on learning the A scale not even close to being able to mess around with it. 😃 I’m telling myself just do what you can and eventually you will get there, or at least I hope I will start to pick up new material faster.
You did this wonderful was nice hearing you play it. How long have you been playing?

This was cool. I liked the part where you were doing what sounded like a quick double strum. Very neat.

( I love your name so much I named my son Brandon)
and now back to our regularly scheduled posting.
I sometimes feel like that too but in the end, I realize that Tony does not expect us to be able to do this, but he keeps exposing us to new things and we keep stretching trying our best to do them. They come around again, so maybe we only gain a tiny bit of it and the next time around we can do more. Plus playing every day makes a huge difference. He says trust the process and although I won’t lie…sometimes I’m frustrated, and sometimes I wish we could learn the song that goes with the techniques. That being said I have been strumming songs for a few years I could amuse myself but it was getting boring. These challenges are challenging for me, but since joining in Feb. I see a difference in my playing and yet, there has not been a single one I could say I mastered or even close. I truly believe in the end we are benefiting big time from TAC. Be patient with yourself and understand we will have good days and bad days, but we are improving every time we pick the guitar up. I find it helps me to have a song I like to be working on in addition to TAC. I’m excited because I joined a campfire guitar series being held on Friday nights for 4 weeks at the local music school. It is for adult beginners. I’m looking forward to it as it will allow me to practice playing in time with other people and meet other people in my area who are learning as well. Maybe you could find something similar. Hopefully, make a few friends. We are going to get there but we need to keep it fun, fresh and exciting. Celebrate all your small wins because really they are huge wins. Have a great day, and happy strumming.

A year ago I tried a few lessons with a teacher, but although I could play the piece he gave me at home, it was like my brain fell out of my ear in his lesson. He wasn’t the best of teachers I suspect and I quickly started to dread my guitar which I had loved and played every day before. I realized I was doing better with online lessons. There is a jam in my little country community but it is one day a week at the fire hall and I keep promising myself I will go to it and check it out, but what happens is it is on a day that I work and if I remember I’m so tired I haven’t gone. I don’t think I can get better if I don’t at the very least start playing steadily with a backing track. How long have you been playing? What happens at your jam? Do you feel nervous there? Inquiring minds want to know. haha. Have a great time.

Thanks for the encouragement good to know you are doing well.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have been playing songs for 2 years but only strumming them. I love how this is stretching me and teaching me new skills and techniques, but also a little dismayed thought I’d be doing better than I am.
-
That is awesome. I look forward to hearing it. I play basic strumming songs these challenges at this point are beyond me but I’m just plugging on and hoping to get better. have a great day.

Thanks for the encouragement and good advise. I never really was exposed to the blues before TAC it is so cool. Have a great day.
