Hi MNG! I can totally relate to having Tony’s method become my path to realizing my dreams. I got my first guitar at 7 and it sat in the corner of my bedroom untuned and only occasionally picked up and played for the next 5 years. Music class in middle school taught me how to tune (kind of). Fast forward and I find the key to what I was missing and it was Tony’s method. I have been around for a while now and being able to play in a way that exceeds my wildest dreams is one of the great satisfactions of my life. I still come every day to do my calisthenics on the daily challenge and it has yet to fail to surprise me with dividends paid for all the previous time I put in! The Daily Challenge is the key to my success. Whoa! I think that is the first time I put that all together! There is a small win!!!
Congrats MNG and I look forward to hearing more from you! -
Has this been a recent change?

Where does that time go Marty? Congratulations. Fearlessly carry on, never put the guitar down. I’ll be listening for you!

Hi @JeffM.22 , I have not had this surgery but I did want to wish you speedy recovery and fast progress. There is video out there that showing how your fingers, wrist, arm move on a skeletal muscular model that I found super helpful in my recovery from other joint repair surgery. It is made by David Galvez. I found it on YouTube.

Congratulations @outdoorgator . I like the gold analogy! Before I found TAC I was digging like a mad man…..barely a shred of gold……then I find Tony…….and he shows me where to dig. Still takes a ton of energy to learn this thing but every time I scoop a shovel of earth, because I have been shown where to dig, I find nuggets.
It gets better and better the further into the acoustic life you go. You got it!!! You have the mind set for the fingers to follow. -
An observation that will light your path for miles!!! This may be the only game where the winning is the playing: it begins the second you start.

for sure it is guitar specific. The more responsive the intent of the builder….the more the strings will resonate. With practice you learn tricks, like muting other strings, or checking a harmonic with the intended pitch, or checking the pitch of the string you are trying to tune by playing it on Fret 5 to see the next pitch and what the string is doing at that length.

I suspect @jimmaggio6gmail-com that you are energizing other strings sympathetically and the tuner is picking up that vibration frequency over your intended pitch. The B string does that. By muting the other strings while you tune the B string you might eliminate the harmonically competing frequencies.

Thanks, Godspeed, Merry Christmas to you!

I like that too!

My experience is same as @Rodeo747 , @langerking .
It is all about the humidity first. Temperature is relative not primary. People like a certain range of temps. Guitars like the same however they are more picky and react to humidity not temperature. Your metal strings will react to temps but not so much the wood. It is the humidity that will make your wood move. I have hygrometers in rooms where I play and store. I also keep one with me when I travel to see what is going on at any given moment. There are times when conditions are naturally good for leaving guitars out and there are extremes when I keep them cased (humidity controlled in case) until it is time to play.
Did I mention it yet? It is all about the humidity? : )
