| Why I'm Here |
Hello, James here in San Francisco! Learning how to play guitar is something I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember. Several times I started, and every time I gave up. I was told to memorize this, memorize that…no direction or, well, understanding of ‘why’? After a couple of  stressful years in my life I gave myself a birthday give of honest-to-goodness, one-on-one guitar lessons with a professional guitar teacher. He got me rolling with the fundamentals, which nobody had ever done before and, after a few months, I felt I had a solid foundation on which to develop and grow. But, I have felt stuck lately. Practicing the same things over and over again, not sure of how to get to the ‘next level’…and then I discovered Tony, and…here I am! Okay, what I have seen from him is, honestly, a bit over my head, to say the least. But I am tired of feeling like guitar practice is work, with very little progression to show for it. I need a boost!

I want to get beyond memorizing things; notes, chords, shapes etc. I want to have the freedom to play beyond things that I have memorized; to understand WHY chords and notes are and do what they are and do. And to know where I am on the fret board, and why I am where I am on the fret board.
