| Why I'm Here |
In 2016 I had one of those life altering scares. Doctors found a tumor the size of a baseball inside of me and thought it was cancer. Two surgeries back to back, saw the removal of the tumor and when I woke up from the second surgery I was given the amazing news that it had been benign. It was a wake up call and turning point in my life. I let go of all of the garbage in my day to day. I looked at everything with a fresh set of eyes. All of those things that I had kept saying, “I wish I knew how to do that…” turned into “why am I not jumping in with both feet and doing that?”
I went out and finished my advanced scuba diving certifications, I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane… and I borrowed a guitar that had been sitting in my father’s basement for years. I started to teach myself how to play through youtube videos and an app I found for my phone. I was hooked. My fingers were bruised and sometimes bleeding as I developed the calluses, but I didn’t stop. After I saw how much this meant to me, I returned the borrowed guitar and purchased my very first guitar. I bought a used Gibson J45 Standard with the tobacco sunburst. Her name is Lola and she is my best friend.

I find a joy and solace in playing, it is a stress reliever for me. I would like to become a better guitar player for my own personal satisfaction. I want to look back and know that it was something that I wanted and so I took the initiative and went out there and did it, giving it everything that I had.
