Why I'm Here

I’ve wanted to play for a while but am finally dedicating more focused time and energy.  I’ve played some other (non-string) instruments mostly in my early years.  I’m stronger reading music than using my ear and improvising.  I would like to be able to improvise a bit and play with others most of all…. be able to hear and feel the music and the changes and integrate them naturally.  I like finger style and blues most of all.  Tommy Emmanuel makes me want to stand up and cheer and quit guitar forever at the same time.  🙂

My Guitar Goal

What I'm Focused On Now

The next three months I want to continue developing clarity and fluidity with the pick, both strumming and cross-picking, and want to do that by learning some new songs and smoothing out some ones I’ve mostly learned.  An additional plus would be to review the Fretboard Wizard to ingrain those lessons another layer deep!  I generally play every day but my goal is a minimum of 5 days.

My Guitar Routine

This is How I TAC

A perfect week ….

* Play every day (and I usually do) but I follow my energy and mood and only set a goal of 5 days.   Moderation in all things…  🙂

* I do the “mandatory” section in the morning, after newspaper and coffee, before exercise.  Minimum  10 – 30 working on TAC lesson.   This session can often lead to a lost (and found) hour of additional play time, depending on how I feel and what else is on tap for the day.   Typically I’ll have a late afternoon session too to work on whatever I want to work on.

* Morning session is always at the table in dining room area.   The chair is more suitable and it’s the laptop’s typical home.   Other times I play in the living room (a vast 12 feet away) or still in the DR depending on how I feel, what material I’m working from,  and how focused I intend to be.
