My Guitar Goal

What I'm Focused On Now

Hey Tony and fellow T.A.C. members.

My guitar goal for the next three months is going to be working on maintaining a consistent tempo while playing. I have never enjoyed practicing with a metronome but its becoming more and more glaring that I am not always maintaining my tempo.  I also want to work on my fingerstyle playing too.

My Guitar Routine

This is How I TAC

In a perfect week I will play 6-7 days a week. Every evening between 5-6:30 P.M. dedicating at least 10 minutes but it usually goes longer. I practice in my guitar chair in my living room.

Why I'm Here

Hello, T.A.C. family, my name is Jeff I’m 47 years old maintenance technician/industrial electrician from Northeast Alabama. I’m married to my wonderful second wife and I have two grown sons. My guitar journey is filled with an on again off again relationship with the guitar. I started guitar at 14 started out wanting to be a rock star like most. I was self-taught using guitar magazines and books managed to learn a few chords and some songs, but eventually I grew frustrated and sold everything I had after high school. Fast forward a few years I had some friends who were getting into playing guitar a got interested again myself this time I was fascinated with playing acoustic guitar. This time I stuck with it learned many more chords and a variety songs but really only open chords I would use a capo a lot. Tried to play in some bands but nothing never really stuck. I tried my hand at writing songs and do have small catalog of originals songs. I worked with a friend for while working on originals he was great lead player and helped make my songs much better. But life happens we were coworkers and our plant shut down and both went back to college wasn’t really able to continue because we lived farther away from each other. After starting a new job, I found myself making less and less time to pick up the guitar. Then about 5 years ago I had an on-the-job accident and lost two of my fingertips on my picking/strumming hand and really just wasn’t able to play at all for a while. I would try to pick it up every so often and just was so frustrated I figured I was done. Late last year while during a rainy weekend I discovered this YouTube show called Acoustic Tuesday and just became inspired to try once again so I went back to work to relearn. I even purchased and new Taylor back early this year, learned a few songs for wife so she could compete in singing competition. I was even talking with my former writing partner about getting back together but then Covid-19 hit so we thought we’d let this blow over but I later found that my friend had cancer and then he passed way over the summer. But now me and the wife have decided to work on acoustic duo thing with all the down time we’ve had. Now I have decided I really need guidance to get better and I felt that T.A.C. is the right fit for me and what I’m wanting to accomplish. Whew that’s a lot to type but it’s been a long, strange journey for me and I’m looking forward to continuing it as long as I can lift my arms and play.

City

I really have always wanted to be performer but honestly, I just wasn't in the cards. But getting better for me is important because I owe it to myself after all that has gone on during my guitar journey. I also want to get better for my wife so we can hopefully begin to perform after things get back to normal. She has a great voice and I'd like to be great player to match it.
