My Guitar Goal

What I'm Focused On Now

2024 – Ultimately, my goal in 90 days is to learn 8 songs, and start to feel like I really understand the fretboard and the pentatonic scales (with or without the use of CAGED) enough to be able to knock out simple solos for those songs.

2024 RESULT: These goals were partially met. The songs come primarily from TAC and fretboard understanding from Fretboard Wizard (although I feel there is still a lot to be learned here). I didn’t always make each new song a part of my repertoire, focusing instead on learning the techniques and skills, using each song as a reference point. Soloing is still a challenge.

2025 – Go through next 12 months of TAC and complete each lesson to minimum 1x standard. Expand upon the weekly lessons by applying learned skills to the ‘recorded version’ of the songs learned. Make all TAC songs part of my repertoire, either for accompaniment or solo guitar versions.

My Guitar Routine

This is How I TAC

How many times: Every day, even if no more than 10 minutes.

When: Mornings before noon.

Where: My studio in the basement.

2024 EOY Comment: None of these have changed. I don’t always practice every day, but 4-6 days per week is an average. I’m trying to be consistent with the WHEN but often find myself starting practice in the afternoon or evenings. The location has expanded to other locations where I keep a guitar handy, but those are mainly for playing, not practicing.
