Why I'm Here

I’ve been playing for years off and on and mostly alone.  My roots are country music.  I learned Chet Atkin’s finger picking style early on but over the years haven’t used it much.  In Jr. college, I played in a folk singing group (seems an eternity ago) and loved it.  I joined TAC because I am in a rut, need to extend my knowledge, abilities, style and get myself comfortable to play with others again. TAC is certainly doing all of that but I’m still stuck on application. Hopefully time will fix that.

I have five guitars, two 12 strings and three six string. The 12’s are a Gibson and Guild (my favorite) and the 6’s are an Ibanez, Takamine, and a 00-18 mini Martin that is currently at my local luthier. I want to buy a new 6 string but am “touchy feely” when it comes to buying so have never bought a guitar online. Feel and fit are important.

I enjoy outdoor activities such as 4-wheeling, snow machine riding, skiing, hiking, kayaking, etc.  I enjoy a tender steak, good scotch, salads, pickled asparagus, time with family and friends, puppies, kittens and playing guitar.  I love life!

City

Playing guitar is one of the true enjoyments in my life. I thank my mother for making me practice.  It has left good memories painted in my mind and untold pleasures. I'm retired, have the time to learn more and only wish I'd done this years ago. Everything happens when it's supposed to. I want to feel comfortable playing with others additional knowledge and skills will help that.
