| Why I'm Here | Hello from San Diego, California! I’m a 50+ youngster who loves guitar and photography and I have my own consulting business specializing in learning technology applied to corporate learning and development. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 12 years old. Now a few decades later I still know the same 10 songs but I have several I’ve composed myself. I’ve been stuck for a few years and wanted to move on with new skills and new inspiration. I’m a finger-style acoustic player mostly that I apply to blues, jazz and folk music but I can do some rhythm and bass stuff when needed. I really need help with some new strumming and finger-style rhythms and I can always improve on fingerboard mastery. Influencers range from Leo Kottke, John Denver and James Taylor to Mark Knophler and Tom Schultz to William Ackerman to Anthony Wilson. I guess I’m a bucket full of wannabe 🙂 Like many guitarists, I have way to many guitars! I favor Taylors so beside me is a GS Mini Mahogany, a 2003 314 CE and a 2018 814-12 along with a really sweet Taylor Solid Body electric. Along with these favorites I have a couple of old Fenders, a really cool Gretch Electromatic in Aspen Mint Green, a Danelectro Danoblaster 12 string, an Ovation Balladier, a Kana Ukulele and a Rover mandolin. |
| City | Guitar is both a method of meditation and a creative outlet for me. Both of these bring me great enjoyment and give me a solid centered frame of mind. I have several cord progressions I play along with daily meditations to relieve stress and keep me focused. On the creative side I have some folk and jazz pieces I've put together that I hope to finish some day. I find the creation of music more satisfying that covers because I get to play with music theory and composition. However, it's not much fun to go to parties when someone asks "Hey Ken, you play guitar. Can you play us some songs?" Learning how to quickly add songs to my repertoire would be really cool. |
