Why I'm Here

I bought a octave mandolin on a whim after reading an article in an in-flight magazine, I don’t know what came over me. Since I couldn’t find good instructional courses for an octave mandolin, I looked for online guitar lessons and stumbled upon TAC in their first month of Acoustic Tuesday, and have enjoyed every episode since. I used an old cheap travel guitar I got 20 years ago but was so frustrated and with such painful fingers in the first week that I gave up. Fascinated with TAC, I casually attempted the daily lessons, though it was challenging to do even simple exercises. My real fascination turned towards the history of guitars and luthier craft. I read many books, watched lots of youtube, and enjoyed tinkering with broken guitars I got from thrift stores. Then out of the blue, I won a Taylor GS mini! OMG, what a world of difference, plus I discovered my old guitar had sub-standard nut width! I feel a new enthusiasm to learn, and am thankful for the time I’ve spent on learning about all things guitar.

City

My casual interest was boosted by the new guitar and now I'm empowered and confident to improve my abilities. I'm looking forward to musical enjoyment and sharing with both the guitar and the octave mandolin. And continuing my explorations in the workshop. The world of the guitar is adding new richness to my life that I had not expected.
