I love being forced outside my self-imposed box.

Aloha @DrBrow, couldn’t have said it better myself … and I should have said last Thursday when I started my 4th year. I’m transition to the whole song motif, preparing custom arrangements, moving keys around to suit my skills, occasionally personalizing the lyrics … and avoiding vocalizations at all costs. It seems B-flat is the only key I can sing in because every time I sing, somebody says “Oh Brah … you B-Flat!”
Congratulations on having fun, and then realizing you picked up a little about music while you were at it.

@S1ww Month end reminder … if you think you’ll want to look at some challenges after the month that they are originally presented in, mark them as “Favorite”. then you can go back anytime, but luckily, a new feature has been added in the Monday Momentum email sent out each week. At the bottom of the email a link is provided to the previous month’s challenges, so at least you got an addition month to get them saved. Reminder to everyone … even if you’re not “intending” to go back to this right away, if you mark it, you’ve preserved your access to it as long as your membership is active.

Aloha @kayakgirl, I usually play a power chord as the base triad of the barre chord so, the power chord you’re trying to play would be: ‘lowE’ – 5th fret – Index finger, ‘A’ – 7th fret, Middle finger, ‘D’ – 6th fret, Ring finger. If your Index finger falls against the treble strings – so what , you’re not using them so their now muted. Of course … if you want to work a little bit of the treble in for accent, if it sounds good, it is good. And you get to decide what sounds good … to you.

Aloha @DustyF consider this, and I don’t say it lightly … you didn’t just “feel” like you were making music.

Excellent notification @AlbertCW — if it sounds good it IS good, and any way you make it sound good is a “right” way to play it. Can’t tell you ow much more fun I started having once THAT sunk in. Congratulations and keep having fun!

That makes you a praise worthy “streaker” (no pictures, please), and I’ll confirm that’s a good thing!

Aloha @RobbS A LOT of work, and very cool. I, like you, am a visual kind of guy so this summarizes the nuts and bolts beautifully for me. I’ve only play through the “C” shapes tonight and will do them all tomorrow morning, but I do have a few comments that would make it easier on an old guy like me. 1 The layout is great, but could you change the labels for the two diagrams on the page for each tone to “Chord Shapes” and “Scale Shapes”? 2 I’m sure you’ve already noticed and probably corrected, the position of the high E string on the G Scale Shapes is misplaced. 3 And finally, on the C Chord sheet, the “G” scale shape is missing the 7th tone (B) – 4th fret of the “G” string. If that’s the only missed note I find I’m giving you an A++ for a Great Job. And my deep appreciation for the effort and the results.

@Marty72 Very nicely done … this morning I’ve been using your recording as a backing track to practice a fingerpicking version (with more of a treble focus) I’ve been trying to put together … it’s nice to have the company, Thank you

@jmwood59gmail-com Aloha Jeff – Don’t feel all alone, I, like many newbies, felt overwhelmed early in my TAC journey – there’s LOTS to do and LOTS to learn, … and it keeps coming at you.
But then I realized I’m not here to live up to random challenges, I’m here to have fun playing my guitar. I dialed back my commitment to daily challenges, the paddling of the canoe so to speak, and learned to relax, take my time and float. So I “opened up to sampling what’s offered”, picking things that interested me to explore, and let the learning come at a pace I could deal with.
For me, since I was a fairly respectable self-taught player from the late 60’s, that meant delving into the skills courses for the playing side of things and doing a deep dives into the background of acoustic guitar. For instance, I watched EVERY Acoustic Tuesday episode and can now say, with a sense of confidence, I now know “what I don’t know” … and that makes me hungry to learn more general guitar/ music knowledge.
But I’m also now inspired to have a method to my “training” too. By training, it’s not just the head stuff, but making the transition to mastering the physical part of playing. BUT I STILL select what I work on, because I don’t have time to do it ALL.
So, as one example of “eating the elephant” (and this method works for me because I am retired), each weekday morning I open the Daily Challenge, mark as a favorite, print the tab and take a few minutes to figure the tab out. Then I review the “play” video (see how I did figuring out what was called for) and THEN watch the “learn” video (because they always have hidden gems). Now I’m ready to follow up on that particular challenge anytime I want to. Then I’ll look at the Forum posts, just to stay current … and call my morning done. Almost every day including weekends, in the afternoon I’ll select some tactical exercise for practice and dexterity, and some growth excise, like learning new songs to stay entertained.
Every long-term member at this site will have their own “Unique” story to tell about getting the program to work for them, and they all will stress doing the work (play at your own level — regularly) and ALWAYS have fun. That should be your commitment to yourself. There are tens of thousands of additional members in the TAC family who support that, for themselves and for YOU.

Aloha Steve, I’m on a Back-To-Basics train and trying to rebuild the suite of Warm-Ups that Tony was running back in ’21 – ’22. Good stuff for digit strength and dexterity, but age seems to be helping that stuff slip away – and I’m fighting it!! In particular I have most the lessons saved, but don’t find any record of a handful that should be in the sequence. Do you, and anyone who can help feel free to jump in, have links and/or TABs for; WU1, WU2, WU4, WU6, WU8 and anything greater than WU26. I’ll be happy to share from my records anything not listed with any member who sends a request.

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed … even though the lesson doesn’t load as usual, the download icon next to the TABs icon isn’t highlighted, but if you click on it the video downloads to your device. You can click on the downloaded file and it will load just fine. They’re big files, it takes a while … and you probably won’t want to (or need to) retain the file after you’ve watched the lesson a time or two, but at least you can get Tony’s takes and tips on the subject matter and then work from the TABs.

Aloha @JoeT , back in September as “Acoustic Tuesday’s” was phasing out I began receiving “Monday Momentum” emails from TAC. Basically, a little “pep talk from the coach” introducing that week’s new challenges with Tony adding a few extra comments, specifically related to TAC family matters or concerns. After the first month or so they start adding a few links to the bottom of email to help keep everyone, I presumed, moving forward. I thought this was going out to all TAC family members.
I’m still seeing them each Monday and presumed all members do as well. You might want to contact Support for more information and to arrange to get on the mailing list,
