Hey Brandon – I was able to find some local groups on meetup.com (and if not maybe you could start one!).

Welcome to TAC! I’ll hit my 2 year anniversary in October – 613 sessions today. I still keep having days where I say WOW. Thanks Tony!

I’m playing with a Boss RC-1 looper. I only have acoustics but my GS-Mini has a pickup and so I use that with the looper and a small 15W Fender amp. I mostly just play a few bars with a chord or two and then practice scales/arpeggios/solos over them.
Also recently got a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 and just started playing with that and Garageband to get all sorts of different guitar and amp sounds. I’m just playing around but it’s fun when I have the time.

This is a great threa – thanks for posting everyone!
I can play about 30-40 songs (with some minor stumbles) and I try to learn 2-3 new songs every month. Sometimes I stumble on something that will take me a month just by itself. I struggle to balance learning new songs and practicing songs I already learned so I don’t forget them.
Short term goals: Some classic Beatles songs and maybe some of the popular Jason Isbell tunes – but they are really hard!
Long term goal: Never Going Back Again (learned it – just have to practice it about 10,000 more times)

Supercool song and well played Braden! I wasn’t familiar with this and excited as others to dig deeper into this music. Reminded me of some Tom Waits. Rock on and have a great weekend!

If the guitar is a classical guitar you’ll want to stick with classical/nylon strings. If it’s a steel-string guitar, I tend to hear the most positive things about Elixir Nanoweb and D’Addario XS. I started using the Elixirs and then switched to the D’Addarios and love them. I change them every 2-4 months (and play ~20-30m most days).
For beginngers, I’d suggest starting with ‘custom light’ or ‘extra lights’ which will be easier on the fingers and then maybe work your way up to the lights.

Nice job on this Braden – love that you incorporate the solos – that’s super tricky. Sounded great. I got a basic looper a while ago and this is the first thing I played when I got it plugged in. Laying down the chords and then playing the opening solo over and over and over (I still haven’t learned that second one…)
Rock on!

Are you trying to memorize the whole thing – yikes!!

Well wow – thanks, that’s quite the compliment. I had to look him up and found this interview with Rick Beato – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERXUMh1S2ws
Fun watching a guy struggling to play the riffs he same up with himself.
Have to add some sting songs to the ‘learn list’!
Hope you have a great week ahead!

Thanks so much Braden – this was more tricky than I thought it would be so it’s really nice to get the kind feedback. I need to learn some other songs in open D. ! Hope you have a nice week and get in some good guitar time!

It’s what I grew up on – road trips with my dad and Dylan. Thanks Albert – hope you have a nice week ahead!
