Why I'm Here

I am a retired United States Marine where I served for 20 great years. I am a pastor’s assistant at my church where I also teach and preach the Bible which is my life. I started playing guitar after my wife suggested it and a Marine buddy of mine brought his to work one day and I fell in love. Two weeks later I bought a Sonata 6 string with case and away I went. That was 10 years ago and I have had little progress. I bought several different guitar programs which did help some, such as Learn and Master Guitar and others. I did get other guitars since then. I bought a Ibanez cutaway acoustic/electric and my wife bought a Playmate guitar at a yard sale for $5 but it plays surprisingly well. My Marines bought me a 12 string Fender for a going away present many years ago but I am not very good at it. I recently found a program called Music with Ryan and between that and Tony’s course my progress has been amazing! I love to play guitar! I only really enjoy playing gospel and bluegrass. My wife and I occasionally sing and play at our church and we go to a nursing home once a month to minister to the elderly there; they really enjoy the music.

City

I love the guitar because it is the most beautiful and versatile instrument. There are so many things you can do with the guitar. No matter how long you study and play guitar you will always learn something you didn't know before. The Bible is the same way and I love to study both (but I love the Bible more). I want to get better at guitar because I want to honor the Lord Jesus Christ with my music and I want to play for Him because He is worthy!
