| Why I'm Here | I’ve wanted to play the guitar ever since I was a kid. Everyone in my family is musically talented. My dad is a musician, a band director, and even gives guitar lessons now. He taught me how to play the clarinet and the trombone. But, I wanted to be a rock star. I asked my dad one day to teach me how to play the guitar. All he did was hand me his old acoustic guitar and a book. He said “here, learn this book and I will have another one for you”. The book had Mary had a little lamb, and Twinkle Twinkle little Star, and not what I was looking for. The strings were so hard to fret I gave up pretty quickly. When I got into high school, I ended up buying myself an electric guitar and attempted to learn on my own. I was even in a band in high school but, never really knew what I was doing. In the early 90s I moved down to Florida with a buddy of mine and we started a band and tried really hard but that broke up and I really couldn’t play with anyone else because I really didn’t know what I was doing. I tried to play every now and then and record some stuff but, it always became too much of a task and I just couldn’t manage. One day I just had enough. I new that if I could just learn what is going on with this fretboard then maybe I could actually have some fun with this. At my age “Rock Star” is out of the question. So I found Fretboard Wizard and along with it TAC. Now I have fun playing every day. The progress is real. And my brother, who has a professional recording studio in his house is helping me set up a studio of my own. I want to learn as much as I can and help other people learn and discover how awesome and fun the guitar really is. |

My Guitar Goal
| What I'm Focused On Now | My goal is to upload at leas 6 videos in the next 90 days. I video my practice sessions as something I can look back on and it shows real progress. Sometimes during the daily challenge I go off and end up playing something I was not expecting. It helps me to remember that song or lick I played more by seeing it and not just hearing it. I need to break out of my box and start socializing by posting more videos. |
My Guitar Routine
| This is How I TAC | I will play no less then 5 times a week. If time allows 6 or 7 times but the sky is the limit. I usually play my guitar after work and after my shower but, before supper. I have a small recording studio that I set up in a small room in my house. The studio is a work in progress. After my shower when I get home from work around 7:00 P. m. I walk down the hallway and into the studio. Log on the TAC and do the daily challenge. I usually end up playing a bunch of other songs or licks and noodle around to the point that I forget what time it is. That is why I don’t eat supper until after my practice. My stomach lets me know when it is time to stop. Funny story. One time when I was stepping out of the shower I hear a pop and felt a massive pain in my left knee. I hit the floor. I knew that I had torn the meniscus in my left knee because this has happened before. I crawled into my closet and grabbed one of my crutches and wobbled down the hall to my studio and had a really good practice session that day. After that I laughed at myself and said “I may be crazy but, nothing is going to keep me from this guitar”. |
