Why I'm Here

I started playing acoustic guitar 19-years ago with personal lessons from a family member. After a year of lessons, I had a child. We lived in a tiny house and he was a very sensitive sleeper. Between long days at work and his sleep schedule, I no longer had time to play much. I never got good/confident enough to play with other people, so, the guitar has been more an ornament than an instrument. I’m 41 now and my sons are teens. I’m ready to get back at it. My goal is to build confidence to play with others, know a handful of tunes that I can sing and play, and be able to pick up songs “by ear” and play background melodies/rhythm when jamming with others.

City

1. I want to learn something new: the musical alphabet/scales/chord progressions/song structure, etc.

2. I want to be a competent enough player to jam and play "around the campfire."

3. I want to learn to sing and play at the same time – right now I can't at all!
