Why I'm Here

I self-taught, mostly chords, 50 years ago, by getting song books and listening to tapes over and over, I gradually got several songs under my belt. I performed for family, mostly my wife and kids. But I never learned the fretboard, any scales or solos, how to read music, or for that matter the names of each string. I saw TAC fretboard info, and decided to start off with TAC intermediate and was so amazed by how much I learned–how much in the past I had missed. Then I took the fretboard challenge and my brain almost exploded with all the great knowledge. I always wanted to do some performing in front of people, so this helped me to do some open mics before COVID-19 shut everything down. I had also joined a bluegrass jam group, but that shut down, too. Then the TAC VOM started and Zoom bluegrass meetings. Even though I still have tons of nerves for live performances, I have improved so much, thanks to TAC.

Great courses, very supportive group of people, a good learning environment. Thanks, Tony and all the TAC teachers and helpers.

My Guitar Goal

What I'm Focused On Now

Continue to write songs, learn licks on the slide guitar, learn new songs, improve on finger picking and solos, learn more scales by heart, try different rhythms.

My Guitar Routine

This is How I TAC

Usually I play a lot. Being retired, sometimes guitar playing takes over so I have to pry myself away to do other things. I am lucky to have my own room for my various hobbies, so all the guitars and music and computer are right there, easily accessible. I would like to play an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon, kind of split it up, because I find I learn better if I get some new stuff going in the morning.
