Andy–
My two bits–
Do some research on what kind– or brand– of stings you may want. Plenty of folks “in here” have GREAT info on strings- (and changing them!!!).
Personally— for years, I was always “scared” to go into a REAL guitar store for that ol’ fear of being “judged”- (because I didn’t know what the hell I was even talking about- and was kind of afraid to ask for something because I really didn’t even know what I was asking for). Boy, was I wrong!!!
Once you have mustered the courage to actually TO GO IN— if you have any question– at all— I have personally NEVER- NOT ONCE had anybody from a guitar store make me feel somehow “judged”. Not once. Ever.———– actually—— the opposite.
Anyway– go buy your strings, no prob, get the best info on different kinds, etc- from your best friends here in TAC- change them yourself- (easy-peasy really)- and move on…………..
(I know- dumb cliche–)- “You got this”.

Fred–
Does this happen when you are “practicing”….. or “learning”?
There was a great discussion- (on the difference between the two)- in here a week or two ago. Mike G. set me straight on the difference- (thanks Mike G!).
They are NOT the same thing!!!
If I’m somehow in a time-crunch– I will sort-of “hurry” thru a PRACTICE if I need to.
But if I’m trying to LEARN something new- I always try to take my time.
Maybe this is what you mean when you say “get the heck thru it”?
This is a great point—— we ALL do it…….

Remember— Those who climb mountains do so in groups. Roped together…….. for a reason.

Watched this video– again– (I always do that– watch them twice)– and, again– found it to be something to I want to be able to pull off……. someday.
I like the “controlled” feel of how you played it. You play it like—- “cool”. Smooth. Solid.
Slightly different😉 from how I think I play most of the time- (movin’ all ’round in my chair, limbs and fingers goin’ everywhere- tongue stickin’ out— etc😜).
I’ll “get there”…… but I’m a ways off…….
LOVE watchin’ ALL of the TAC videos. Thousands and thousands of words of “reading/learning” are passed from one player to another in ONE MINUTE of video.
Thanks for posting this vid.

Timbo & KM–
Agree–
This is a good point you have made here. I have one hangin’ on the wall right where I play.
If I happen to hear a chord progression, a melody, riff, or something- (with or without lyrics combined), or maybe an old song from my past, or– if I just come across something I’m reading, it’s great to just grab that guitar– RIGHT THEN– and get it into my memory banks. And write it down– or play it into my laptop camera- (or both!).
Also, having a “spare” just for any alternate-tunings is great, too.
I think most have one “handy” – but still- a big win!

You have made a(nother) fantastic post.
You’ve reminded me/(us?) that there is more to TAC than learning guitar. That there is JOY in the learning and fellowship in here!!!
For me, anyway, it’s kind-of easy to fall into a “work-work-work” mentality and overlook the part you have brought forth. I’ve been trying to lighten-up a bit with all that lately– adding-in parts of my practice sessions deliberately where I’m playing more “loose”, with more creativity and spontaneity……… more FUN….. (edit/add-in)– even though “it ain’t always pretty”😜!!!
Also think it’s great to keep our brain moving– with memorization, eye-hand coordination, muscle-memory, concentration, and also posture and just keeping flexibility in our hands & arms– this is good stuff.
Repeat– you (and also Gerry)- have made a(nother) fantastic post!
PS– I really LOVE your first line🤣😎

That level of skill is where I hope to be…….. someday.
Inspirational- thanks for sharing.

Anybody else just kind-of “clam-up” when the camera is on?
I can play that song MUCH more “enthusiastically” when just goofing around- no pressure.
But when the camera is on- I just stiffen up…… not just this song- but all of them it seems. Any suggestions from you all who have done this MUCH more than I?
But- seems like the more times I play a song the easier it gets.
Sorry about the crappy sound recording-🤨- still working on a better setup. (Right now I’m just playing into my laptop microphone).
Thank you all for the nice words and encouragement.

Cadgirl—
“you can’t just buy it anymore except on signup”
Funny– I actually considered “letting my membership go” upon my renewal date earlier this year (Jan), just so I could then “sign-up” (again)– and buy the FBW course “upon signup” .
Yeah- I know- weird.
For the life of me- I just can’t figure out why an existing member can’t purchase it, but a NEW member can.🤨
Can’t WAIT until it comes out (again)!!!

Gerry- Actually it’s a VERY easy tune to learn and play!
It’s only got 4 chords– A5, E5, B7, and G, and they pretty-much just repeat. All the rest of it, I just threw in there!
Find the TAB on E-chords and go for it!

Thanks, Bill!
I had a lot of fun doing it. It still needs work- (and I can actually sing that song😳)- but I’m not “Ready for Primetime” yet!
I wish I could really let ‘er rip WITH THE CAMERA ON. This is a fairly mild version of the way I normally play it– I just wanted to GET THRU it!
Playing a song “full-length” is tough for me……… The longer it is the more chance I have of screwing it up!😜
