Why I'm Here

Hi. I am a guy who lives in Oregon and is using my retirement to re-claim some of the musical parts of life that got lost when I got too busy being a grown-up. I started playing (badly) in high school and played in a vocal group in college. I fell in love with the sound of a 12-string and played a Kay. In recent years the Kay became un-playable, so when I decided to start playing again, I went for my dream instrument, a Martin D-12-28. :<)

While my profile has been listed under my first name (Norman, as on my credit card) I prefer to go by my middle name, Paul.

I guess it’s like anything else. When anything gives you joy, you want to do it better. One of my other passions is windsurfing, and every day on the water is a chance to improve. (Most people watching me would say I really need to improve.) What I most appreciate is the community of people who windsurf. We are all nuts in the same way and everyone wants to see everyone else sail well.  TAC is much the same: everyone enjoys the progress that others make.

My Guitar Goal

What I'm Focused On Now

My goals for the next three months are: 1) to learn three new songs and play them at an open mic, 2) to update three old songs from my song list, using alternate chords and/or a new key, and 3) to write one new song per month and perform it for the TAC family.

My Guitar Routine

This is How I TAC

In a perfect week I will play some guitar every day. My practice will include some time with the TAC daily lesson and review of any recent lessons that need more attention. I have a room dedicated to music, with desk space, storage for lyric/chord sheets, a white board to update short term plans and enough space for all my instruments. I can play just about any time of day without disturbing the peace and I will occasionally play in the living room watching a music program and playing bass or transposing as needed.
