What I'm Focused On Now |
January 2021 – GOAL – Get back on track.  Outcome – goal not fully met as I developed a trigger finger in my left ring finger which made it difficult to fret some chords. I wasn’t able to fully participate in the TAC dailies, guitar group or practice but I did what I could.
April 2021 – It’s been 1 week since I received a steroid injection in the base of the finger. There’s been some improvement, I can almost make a fist. The finger still locks if I close it too far but I can tell that I’m gaining range of motion. I’ve been participating in the TAC Dailies and picking up my guitar in the evenings. GOAL – Learn 5 songs
July 2021 – In the past quarter I’ve returned to a pretty consistent daily routine. Some days it’s not possible but the times where I return at the end of the day to pick and strum make up for those. Our weekly in person guitar group at the library has resumed and offers a chance to play with others. I’ve managed to add 4 songs to my playlist and working on the 5th, Three Little Birds by Bob Marly, I Walk the Line by Johnny Cash, Hound Dog by Elvis Presley, Love Me Do by the Beatles. Billy in the Low Ground is a work in progress. In between all that has been lots of licks, scales, chord progressions and key chords. I must say I no longer cringe at barre chords. 3 small wins = #1 practicing more consistently #2 realizing progress #3 retaining and practicing licks and scales.
NEXT 90 DAY GOAL – Another trip through Fretboard Wizard focusing on identifying the keys of songs.
